Scranton show CANCELLED, Refunds Now Available

Confirmed by Hunter on AFI's Twitter.
Hunter just tweeted saying Davey asked him to post that they will NOT be able to perform tonight and the show in Scranton, PA will NOT go on.

UPDATE: This was posted on the Scranton Cultural Center's website:
Concert cancelled due to illness. Refunds will be made at point of purchase. Customers are reminded to bring the credit card that they made their purchase with to recieve a refund. No reschedule date has been announced at this time. For tickets bought from Ticketmaster please call 1-800-745-3000

Jade made a blog entry as well. He says it's the first time they cancelled a show in 11 years and that the STS shows they cancelled don't count. He forgot AFI cancelled Big Day Out in January 2006 :P

  3. Didn't they cancel shows after 9/11 as well? Haha, Jade might need a refresher...

  4. Wow, poor Davey. They'll refund and reschedule, people need to stop being so hard on AFI for canceling. It needed to be done. And Jade means the first they've canceled on their own decision. BDO and after 9/11 wasn't their decision, it doesn't "count."

  5. Actually I'm pretty sure BDO was their decision. They cancelled so they could record another song. Besides, if you're counting illness, then tonight's show shouldn't count either :P

  6. Now you're just being nitpicky. If Davey thought he could go on, he would. He's feeling too badly, so he decided he couldn't and they canceled. And I'm fairly sure that someone, I'm thinking Jade, made a post after BDO was canceled and said that they wish they could have made it but they couldn't. It's not like they waltzed up to Silva and said they didn't want to play BDO. Plus, even if it was their personal choice not to go, he probably ALSO means that it's the only of their own headlining tour shows they've canceled in 11 years.

  7. Can somebody tell me what happened during the STS tour that they had to cancel? I wasn't a fan then (I was probably like, 7), and I feel like I'm being left out of something. >_<

  9. @Carrie - I wasn't saying they shouldn't have cancelled tonight. If he's sick, he should be resting. I'm just saying, it's definitely not the first time in 11 years they've cancelled a show.@MiniMissMurder - Davey had a cyst in his throat and had to have surgery to remove it.

  10. Get well soon Davey, i don't know what the big deal with them canceling is either, rather have them healthy than dying.

  12. I feel really bad for the people who can't go and see this show now. It would have been a little better if you found out about the cancellation a few weeks in advance, but the day of must be pretty disappointing. Hopefully they'll reschedule, or go back to PA soon!

  13. They've cancelled the Sweden show (went to pick up a moonman in 2003), they cancelled the 2001 shows due to 9/11, they cancelled the 2004 shows, they cancelled the early 2006 shows. I don't recall them cancelling shows during or before the late BSITS/early TAOD eraAll of them were AFI's decision, obviously.

The shitty thing with them dropping off BDO was that I couldn't get a refund on my $120 ticket! They were the only reason I got one to begin with.. I was lucky enough to find someone to sell it to in the end.

  15. The day I was going to buy my BDO ticket, they cancelled - lucky, because the lineup was fucking awful.
