So which one do you think is better Pablo?DU is obviously the best, but I honestly feel strange on picking a "favorite Davey look".

ReplyDeletecan't pick because the pic you have up of DU davey is vastly understated make-up less davey and the STS davey you have pictured is pretty glammed out for the mtv the cure:icons show. not really fair. you and i both know davey looked far more ridiculous during DU with the fake lashes and 20 pounds of glitter eye shadow.

ReplyDeleteAnd damn, the poll is close!! And I feel compelled to say that DU era is hot too, but STS just brings something out that DU misses... but DU brings out other things. :)
ReplyDeleteI like his new look a lot honestly...man...I loved his STS look and always will, but I thought he looked so much younger with his DU style...it's hard to pick
ReplyDeleteIts blowing my mind that people are even considering DU era. DU era is a black eye on AFI's history (the image and music). IMO.

ReplyDeleteI'm all FOR the Sing the Sorrow era Davey look, but you didn't even use a good photo for the DECEMBERUNDERGROUND era. ie: Make up etc.

ReplyDeleteSTS era was best at everything.Artwork,songs and of course Davey`s look was the best then,i just love that long hair with just a touch of make up,what an awesome era :-)Today Davey looks kinda old ;-(,i hope he will grow his long hair back for next album but since its getting shorter with every new release maybe we will get bald Davey on next one...hahaha joking XP

ReplyDeleteI thought Davey looked awesome in the Leaving Song video, not to mention STS is my top album of all time... But I loved the DU look... Mostly the hair and necklaces... Ha ha, Its a damn close one though... Ill have to vote later.

ReplyDeleteJudging ONLY BY LOOKS (haha, what an ironic statement), I'm gonna have to say DU. It was just so... BAM. The longer hair either looked amazing or kind of ugly... DU was just so uniquely Davey and he absolutely worked it.
ReplyDeleteI prefer DU. It really suited him. Though I may be biased about DU as Miss Murder is the reason I'm here. Otherwise I would have never of heard of AFI, AND du WAS MY 1ST afi cd. i got it xmas '06.

ReplyDeleteI like the DU look best it's when I first got into AFI so I'm partial to that whole look. Plus I like the mod haircut. =)
ReplyDeleteI like both the looks really. I love the hair from STS but I also love the glam of the make up from DU.In general I love Davey no matter the look...Like most of us. But STS definitely got my vote because of that long hair.

ReplyDeleteReally, who changed the DU picture? Mary is the one who liked the DU look and the picture that SHE chose should have remained. Grrr.The makeup was used in 2006 and left in 2007. I dunno why/who changed it.And Kissmyeyes, thanks heaps for the scans but now we know we can't post scans. I was approached by someone from AP saying we couldn't post scans of the article.

ReplyDeleteI really didn't care for the DU look. The excessive eye makeup really didn't do anything for him. at all. His hair, however, from STS era, was amazing, and how can anyone knock pleather pants? Not of these two, I think AOD or the very very early SYMAOYE or ATASF is pretty awesome. dress shirts and suspenders seem to have creeped back into his wardrobe.

ReplyDeleteUm...I never liked either. At all. CL is the only one I've seen of Davey that actually looks appealing. But, I've cared about AFI for the music, not how they looked.
ReplyDeleteDavey has always presented his style in ways that support the musical style and feel of the album/music they are most currently producing.... AFI is frequently on the front of the style curve when it comes to punk/pop-punk..I bet within a year or 2, most of your punk bands will have looks similar to his CL style...

ReplyDeleteMary said the DU look was better and she chose a picture. I said the STS look was better so I chose a picture. The poll idea came out of a nice discussion we were having, so we chose whatever pics we wanted, so in my book, Mary and I are playing in all fairness.
ReplyDeleteI'll always love STS Davey over any other look, like I'll love STS everything over anything else AFI, but that's just me.
ReplyDeletei voted yesterday and i think i voted DU but i dont remember, it was a tough decision lol. i particularly like his look in the Leaving Song video, also the long hair (it was sort of wavy) in STS...but DU has its appeal too. i liked the makeup, although it was a touch too excessive at times. what about Blaqk Audio Davey??? Loved that hair, with the streaks and shorter version of the DU hair. davey, either way will always have his appeal. i miss the lip ring. his new look, is....i guess i dont like it as much as the others. i think he lost weight? and i hope he grows the hair back.......can we do a JADE poll? i love the fact that hes growing the back of his hair out from the AP pics. this whole thing sounds SO superficial. i love afi for their music and art, but i also like the fact that they look good too, kwim?
