Davey on the "Medicate" music video

It seems like X96 DJ, Corey O' Brien, had a conversation with Davey about the concept of the "Medicate" music video, which was filmed in late September in the San Fernando Valley area in LA. No release date has been set.

“There’s no plotline, but there are concepts. Conceptually it’s going to be based on a lot of screens being in the studio with us, and we’ll be performing. Some of us will be on screens, some of us will be on different screens, and different symbolic images will appear on different screens, but I’m really looking forward to the visual look of it, which should be very stark and very clean.”

Thanks to mnx12 for the tip!

  1. In the studio? No plot. Sounds like a music video I personly would only watch one or two times. :/ Sad. I'll reserve full judgment until I see the thing though. I really hope they don't wait too long, they're dying on the music video networks without something to show.

  4. What's really lame is how long we've had to wait. I've never heard of a big name band like AFI waiting until weeks after the CD is released to put out a video... It usually comes out weeks before the CD.

Honestly music videos are not the same as they use to be. Labels don't have big budgets anymore cause there is basically no where they will be played other than youtube and deep cable music channels, thus if labels dedicates a huge budget like MM or LLW, they will not make the money back. So for the labels, there is not the incentive like there use to be. There is no MTV/TRL to play their video 5 times a day like when DU came out. I'm sure if they gave them a bigger budget, they would have done a concept video. Its all about the $$$ now days :) It shouldn't be that way, but it is.

  6. @Maze MonsterNegative again!Afi really isn't a "big band"... big bands have their music on the radio played 24/7... for example, nickelback, shinedown, nirvana.....=\

  8. There is an ad playing on MTV for Ulalume that has like 2-3 seconds of AFI. Does anyone know if the footage from the commercial is footage from the actual video?
