Altsounds.com Reviews Crash Love

Altsounds.com has posted a review of Crash Love. The article states:

At first listen, "Crash Love" did little to impress me. Musically, the album doesn’t sound much different than the previous two releases. That’s both bad and good. Good in the sense that they are staying true to their sound and showing a consistent effort and bad in the sense that it gives little reason for “on-the-fence” listeners to be swayed to the true fan side. However, the main difference between "Crash Love" and the aforementioned releases is that it lacks any song that ... forces one to run out and buy the entire album.

  2. How can they say this album isn't much different than the previous two releases?!?!? That seems ridiculous. Crash love couldn't be farther from DU. Even if they only heard girls not grey, miss murder and medicate you could tell there is a distinct difference in the albums. And as for how the fans recieved it I think most of us were happy. Not all but most.

  3. I think CL has had more positive reception than DU did.

  4. Yeah. I think CL would be more approachable to reviewers. It's catchy and the lack of screaming. But who knows with these guys. It's like they pull some of the reviews out of their asses.

  5. Fan reception, though, has been worse as far as I've seen.

  6. Really? I wasn't around for DU's release, but what I've read/seen suggests that DU pissed a lot of people off and caused a massive shift in the fanbase. That's the sense I got, anyway. Crash Love's impact seems much smaller, with fewer new fans coming aboard and fewer old fans jumping ship.

  7. Have you gone to a show yet drew? Everyone sings as loud and as hard as they do to all the other songs. The show I went to was packed to capacity. I'm not sure if that's just devoted fans or people who like the new cd but the amount of people and their energy says something for CL.

  8. @Darkflame337great way to put it.I also dislike this review, they are wrong in two points like mentioned above.1) they stick with their same sound (um, they change actually lol)2) It lacks any song to make people run out and buy it (actually my friend [who doesn't listen to AFI] heard medicate on the radio and ran out and actually bought the cd)So this review absolutely is wrong, and their reviews gets 1/5 in my world. :D

  9. These people that write the review are so wrong Crash Love is extremly wrong I mean common Crash Love is nothing like any of their albums it is completly diffrent I think that these people listen to probably one song from each albuma and then try to compare it

  10. Maybe I'm just reading to much of the negative stuff. It seems like hardly any of these reviews have anything good to say.

  11. @drew this is a pretty legit source but most of the bad reviews(at least those I've read here) are from colleges which I don't think are valuable reviews.

  12. @Diana..But the review also says that each record AFI makes has a main song (Girls not Grey, Miss Murder), did they only listen to 3 or 4 songs? they only list that in their review. (might be 5 they list, didn't recheck to make sure.. just sayin...)

  13. Ridiculous... I just love that the whole basis of the review is about selling records. Listing off radio release hits? Real AFI fans could give a fuck less about catchy radio friendly hits that will sway on-the-fence fans! If you need to be persuaded than you're not a fan and you never will be. Just because 3 songs are deemed radio friendly by a corporate fucking suit doesn't mean the other ten songs on the album aren't better or as important. I hope the generic, bland, vanilla population doesn't like Crash Love, let them naturally fleece themselves out of the picture... The true AFI fans are the ones who have always been here holding the fucking roof up from caving in. That's how it all works.

  14. Well said black. In end the reviews mean shit (tho i also read them) and anybody that loves afi wont be totally disappointed. At least they are still recording. Its almost been 20 years and i still get excited when i hear afi. Yes im that old... On a different note, anybody like gallows? And how are they sounding on this tour? I love afi even more for picking them. They are great!

  15. Thanks mars13. Gallows are ripping it up. It also goes to show what type of a band they are when they always take bands out with them that they enjoy or respect even if the music is different or unpopular or a throwback to their roots.
