  4. Green Day pulls up people on the spot to sing all the verses of "Longview" during their show. The only "tryout" is when Billie Joe asks them if they know the words. Not to mention that a fan plays all of Jesus of Suburbia on guitar during the shows!

  5. I don't think that it's lame! I think that it's a neat idea! Granted, I'd much rather hear AFI singing, than pretty much anyone else. But, if the contest was in my area, I'd be all over it!...That'd be an awesome thing to get to do!!! I've heard of much "lame"-er contests, than that. Sure, I'd rather sing one of many other AFI songs, than "Medicate"...but, it would, still, be cool. Aren't you guys supposed to be AFI fans?! :-S Gosh!~*Kristin*

  6. The venue seems lame... I checked out the concert details on the X96 website, and if you're under 21 you can't be on the floor you have to go upstairs. That, is LAME.I think this contest is a good idea, but does AFI have any say in it? I hope they do!

  7. James, that's wrong. It's actually opposite, the bar is upstairs, the floor is all ages. In The Venue is actually one of the better venues in Salt Lake.

Wow I am a huge fan but not even I would want to sing on stage that would be extremely Lame and Embarrassing

  10. It would only be "lame and embarrassing", if you could not sing, or looked awkward, or forgot/didn't know the words...It would actually be really cool, if it was something that you were comfortable with, and could decently do!~*Kristin*

  11. @James, Yeah it's weird, cause it does say that on the website. Which is really weird. I've been to hundreds of shows at that venue, and it's always been like that.

  12. Kristin, the "aren't we supposed to be AFI fans?" is getting stupid. Just because we are AFI fans it means we have to like everything they do. Smarten up.

  13. I AM smart. And, what do you mean, "getting stupid"?!...I said it once, in response to a plethora of negative messages. I didn't say it multiple times. And, people were being unjustly negative, in my opinion. Yeah, you don't have to agree with, or be excited about every contest, if you are a fan...But, calling something, like an opportunity to sing on stage with them, in concert "lame" doesn't sound very 'fan'-like, or kind. You "smarten up"...It was a simple comment, in response to an abundance of negativity.~*Kristin*

  14. AFI at UC Davis, California early 2007. Some dude from the crowd came on stage (at Davey's apparent request, though I don't know the backstory) and sang lead vocals for an entire old-school AFI song. Davey sang backup. It was pretty awesome and the dude was top-notch. Must have been a thrill for him and was cool to see AFI trust a fan so much to do that with their music at their show in front of their audience. That's just cool. As long as they get a person who a) can sing and b) can sing it right (Jason, i'm right there with you, but man the longview I saw this past fall was appalling in terms of the how much the people who claimed to know the words didn't).

  15. That sounds really cool...Must've been an awesome experience for that guy!~*Kristin*

  17. Yeah, because, someone would want to give up their dream, for your momentary entertainment. (sarcasm) As long as the person doesn't make a mockery of things, it's fine. Let them have their fun.~*Kristin*

  18. Yeah. Looks it will be an amazing show:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcJhVY_Vs1QWorst for last:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM6G-XJFaYM

  19. Oh yes, Pablo, because AFI would naturally choose the worst singers. You gotta remember, they only pick 1. Certainly, there's at least one good singer in the entry group. Let's be realistic here: Medicate ain't exactly a vocally demanding song, especially in the chorus. Hell, I'd wager the person picked is going to be allowed to do the gang vocal shouts only anyway...
