Davey Details Blaqk Audio Release Plans

In an interview with Live 105, Davey discussed the release plans for Blaqk Audio's new singles and the full album Bright Black Heaven. You can see the full interview here.

The first single will be released on 11/26/10 (Black Friday, day after Thanksgiving) and will also be released on 12" vinyl. Other singles will be released one after other until the release of Bright Black Heaven in late spring or early summer 2011.

  2. So much for summer 2010 >.> now we're looking at summer 2011?
Gah. Well hopefully we will have a decent amount of singles to hold me over until then.

  3. Haha, spring/summer '11? By the time that happens we'll probably have all the songs on various 12 or 7 inches.

Which is actually kinda cool. I like this idea a lot.

  4. Spring/summer 2011? Oh good, they're not releasing the album whilst I'm broke then! Good thing that! As long as I can get my mits on a copy here in the UK I couldn't really care less when the album's released

  5. I really like this idea......lets see if it actually happens

  6. Eh, that makes the actual album less valuable, imo. Hopefully they are also released on cd though, since I would like to be able to listen to the songs on my computer/ipod.

  7. I agree with Mark. Or at least have digital download codes with each record.

  8. Let me get this straight. Black Bright Heaven is coming out approximately one year after the radio leak of Ill Lit Ships, which, along with most of the album, was apparently "finished" before Crash Love. Yeah, that makes sense.

  9. i wonder which will come out first, bright black heaven or dark morning conspirators :P

  10. ^^^ Yep, depressing isn't it?

  11. They are still writing and there is no final tracklist for the album. Ill Lit Ships and Bon Voyeurs might not even be on BBH.

  12. You have to wait for my interview with Jade :)

  13. I seriously can't trust anything they say anymore. Way back in November 2009 they said in Alt Press there would be 12 songs on the album & it's complete. They said multiple times it was coming out in 2010. I'm not believing anything until Interscope says it.

  14. Things change. AFI tossed half of an album and started over. BA obviously was not pleased with what they had or they wanted to do more than what they had. It's not that much of a mystery or hard to believe.

  15. IK, it's just annoying we are always told something that never happens. I would rather just not know at all.

  16. What if the singles they're releasing aren't on the album, so we get a majority of the 33 they've recorded. /hopefulthinking

  17. I'm guessing we get a shitton more songs this way. Why the whining?

  18. It'd be neat if they released all 33 songs through a series of EPs rather than singles. Maybe three at a time, once a week for eleven weeks, or something. Or they could just do this for the non-album tracks. Wishful thinking, I guess.

  19. I think 33 new songs sounds pretty 'effin sweet. And the fact that they will release singles well in advance of the album coming out is great too because its just a little to hold you over until the album arrives. Overall I'm pleased with this, despite word that the album was done late last year. It would be nice for AFI to work on some new material between now and next spring/summer but I some how doubt that :/

  20. Stop whining, it will be out when the guys and the label want it to come out.

  21. Odds are with this method of release, and knowing that Davey really doesn't like to perform songs that aren't released because nobody knows them, Blaqk Audio won't be touring till next sumemr. Which means I'm guessing AFI goes into writing mode sometime in a couple months after the guys take a few off. They'll release and tour Blaqk Audio for a month or so next year, and be in and out of the studio probably before or after that, depending on when BA does its thing. Remember, Davey and Jade have said numerous times that AFI is and will always be priority #1. AFI won't get pushed back for a BA album and tour that is already in some partial state of completion. Looking for a Q4 AFI #9 drop is my hunch.

  22. As long as that first single won't be Ill Lit Ships or Bon Voyeurs or the next three months will be anticipation well wasted :P

  27. @ Flash
I highly doubt a Q4 release for AFI9. I hate to be that guy but the past 4 AFI albums hae been released 3 years apart (2000-2003-2006-2009) and now consider that they will probably spend more time on BA because it is bigger then the last time they toured. No way the new AFI album will be out in 2011. I don't think they'll write new stuff between now and BA. I think they'll take a break and do some random shows here and there before BA is released. Well that's just my two cents.

  28. Summer 2012 for AFI is my guess
