  1. This is what I hate about living in New Zealand :(

  2. I'm going to the Camden show tonight, and then to the Holmdel, NJ show on the 14th. Can't wait!

  3. I'm going to the D.C. date. Which it's really in Bristow, VA but that's beside the point.

  4. you guys should crotch a camera in and record the shows! considering they will be in huge arenas they probably won't search you all

  5. I think it's actually tougher to get cameras into large venues than small ones. But once you're in, it's much tougher to get caught. ;)

  6. Just an update, no old songs were played tonight in Camden according to EastJayHardcore on twitter. :(

  7. Just watched the show in Camden. Fuck green day. No one gave a shit about afi yet when someone in a pink rabbit suit came on stage before green day, we heard the loudest cheers of the night thus far. Davey announced before the last song: "we were afi".

So no one was moving or singing along and wait....no one knew who they were?

  9. I'll try to record as many afi songs as i can. does anybody know how many songs they play? and i really hope i'm not the only one singing along to them :P

I was with a small group of some of the only lawn people singing along. I was so fucking disappointed. People in front of me were making slitting-wrist motions during Silver and Cold.

And I thought I misheard that "we were AFI" thing. That's so sad.

Btw, they did 11. My friend wrote down the setlists. From what I recall, there was Medicate, Girl's Not Grey, The Leaving Song Pt. II, Beautiful Thieves, End Transmission, IATVHTBH, The Missing Frame (that one was unexpected :D ), Miss Murder, Dancing Through Sunday, Love Like Winter and Silver and Cold.

...Okay, that was out of order-ish, but those were all. Guys, I really wouldn't be expecting any oldies to be broken out. Most people are there for GD. It's like if people went into the AFI shows last year, praying for a specific Gallows song. They're gonna play the general crowd favorites.

(And, for the record, I'm as big of a Green Day fan as I am of an AFI fan. So I don't want to hear any shit. They're both great bands.)

No dude it was like they were some throwaway opening act. But green days fans were insane. Maybe no afi fans showed up. It was like a green day army I've never seen crowd support like that

    How bleak.
Guess AFI fans didn't wanna pay 30 bucks just for lawn tickets. Shrug

Was that to me? I don't know what you mean. I have a lawn ticket and i think i payed like 40 bucks. I just wanna know the greenday songs so that i can sing along to them too.

  16. Are people really surprised no one was there for AFI?

  17. @blaqk My friend has the setlist written down. I can maybe post it in the comments here tomorrow. Big word of advice though: listen to the singles from the past two albums, along with Dookie. Those are all the most commonly played ones. Oh, and Good Riddance :B

Sorry Blaqk that was directed at Danny. Seeems you posted right before I did. Didn't mean to get your defenses up.

And yes Pablo I'm a bit surprised especially for NJ.

  20. I was front row at last night's show in Camden, and I had a WONDERFUL experience.

Having camped out all day, I communicted with tons of Green Day fans who were actually quite familiar with AFI. I did not once encounter a rude Green Day fan. In fact, I'll be the first to admit that the Green Day fans were much more amiable and less cut-throat than the few AFI fans I spoke with.
Just because the Green Day fans weren't singing along and dancing doesn't mean that they weren't being receptive. They were there for Green Day - What do you expect?

Just as well, the setlist was not surprising. The hits were played because the band is attempting to garner new fans during a very limited set - They're not catering specifically to us because 1.) we're already familiar with their work and 2.) there aren't many of us who are attending these shows...at least in comparison to Green Day fans. No offense guys, but that's a bit of a no-brainer. Once again, I reiterate: AFI was not headlining. We have to keep this in mind, or our expectations will be shot.

That said, I definitely did not catch the whole "we WERE AFI" comment, and I was dead center front row. I briefly chatted up Smith and Fritch who were in FANTASTIC moods, and the boys also exuded a ton of excitement last night. They were all smiles and let me tell you, I haven't heard Davey so chatty since the beginning of tour.

  21. Is the aug 14th show gonna be a real bonerkill to us AFI fans?
haha everyone seems to be saying ppl' attitudes suck at these shows recently

..or at least to ppl like me in the lawn section aka "east jesus nowhere"

  23. @UndertheJRose You're gonna be stuck back in the lawn? I wish my 14th tickets were back there so I'd have another AFI fan to be with, but I've got seats for this one. Good luck finding any AFI fans back there, but make the best of it. The show is still fabulous. (:
