This is NOT an official release from the band. It is a biography, and most likely unauthorized. There are other "Lowdown" titles from other bands such as Pearl Jam, Sean Paul, and Rage Against the Machine, all released under the label Sexy Intellectu.

Is this officially from the band? Because there are several "biographies" like this, most of them containing incorrect information... If it's official, though, it's really cool!
ReplyDeleteSounds sketchy. Plus that's the most half-assed artwork ever.
ReplyDeleteAh. Yeah, not really interested.
ReplyDeleteAt least it's not called AFI on the downlow?
ReplyDeleteTempted to get it and see if it's legit or not. hmmm.
ReplyDeleteThis could be neat...And, comes out three days before My Birthday, which is cool! However, I am conflicted about it, if it is, indeed, "unauthorized". I wouldn't get their one CD that was, because, it was made against their wishes, and probably, without bringing much, or any profits to them. But, books are a little different (even when in disc form). As long as they're not defaming, you can write about someone/have a band as your subject. Granted, it may not be completely accurate. But, I do like to see/get new pictures of them...So, if it's got pictures, I'd want it. I don't exactly get what a "CD Biography" is, though...Is it someone narrating their 'story', or something?! Does it include their music, without their permission?! Those are things that I need to find out, before deciding if it's something that I want. I have the "Omnibus" book about them, but never bought the pre-existing CD about them. Dunno...I'm conflicted about it, until I get more info.. I want the poster, though! lol (Anyone know when/where there will be Crash Love era AFI posters available?!)~*Kristin*
ReplyDeleteIt is probably like the Omnibus book, littered with inaccurate information and pictures stolen from fans. When books like this sell it just paves the way for more books containing misinformation. In conclusion, don't buy the damn thing.
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the book, (yet), but don't doubt that it's not entirely accurate...Because, unfortunately, things that don't come from the people, themselves, seldom are. :-| However, how did they obtain the personal photos that are in there?!And, though I appreciate accuracy, and honesty, I do not feel that I am contributing to the degradation, or downfall of the band, by owning an 'unauthorized' book about them, as I would be, if I owned illegal, or unauthorized music of theirs/copies of their music.~*Kristin*
