"The same can't be said of our local boys in AFI. The group was thrilled to be performing a hometown show, and turned up the East Bay pride on many occasions. "Good evening Oakland," vocalist Davey Havok said to the crowd. "We are AFI from here!" Unfortunately the shout-outs to his homies were the sole highlights of Havok's performance, who hammed up his vocals like he was auditioning for "American Idol." His other memorable moment came when he told the crowd what he thought of seeing Vampire Weekend perform live: "I think compared to the birth of Jesus it was way better."Also from last night, Live 105 has two pictures on their Not So Silent Night page from the interview they did with Adam, Jade, and Davey before the signing.
There are some Christians who might take exception to that, but they probably weren't at Oracle on Friday night."
EDIT: Here is the interview they did. There is no new information, but it's pretty funny. The only thing they really talked about in particular was fashion and how AFI's style has changed.
haha that beats some of the worst reviews of CL in terms of being dead wrong
ReplyDeleteyeah that's terrible.Muse and 30 Seconds to Mars get judged on their musical performance and then "oh yeah" Davey Havok had the following 3 sentences to say during their show. What a douche!Maybe someone who was at the show should provide a more accurate description of what went down. Because I think this line up was insane.
ReplyDeleteThis review is full of misinformation.
ReplyDeleteHey Rabbit, are you the same guy that used to post in AFI Series with the same nickname? :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a terrible review. Davey was simply telling the truth, what's the harm in that?
ReplyDeleteI was at the show, my shtick is on my DA page.
ReplyDeleteThe stereotype that Christians don't listen to alternative rock music (kinda the catch all for last night's show) is also oh-so-very-much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI think the joke the article was making was that the Christians who would disagree that Vampire Weekend's set was better than the birth of Jesus must not have seen Vampire Weekend's set. (That is, rather than a suggestion that no Christians were there.)
ReplyDeleteEither way, VW was okay I think. Very danceable, but nothing too special. Every song of theirs sounded the same. :\
ReplyDeleteuh i was at that performance and they did great, i heard a lot of talk after the show from people how impressed they were with AFI and that they had never seen them before. I even heard a few people arguing that they thought AFI was better then muse and they came to see muse.
ReplyDeleteHey PabloYep, that's me. Congrats to you guys, you are truly doing an amazing job. I'm on here everyday.
