Send Us Your Questions for Jade

We are going to be interviewing Jade next week at the show in Arizona and are open to some suggestions for questions to ask. Leave questions in the comments of this post. We will be picking only a few, so make them good! :)

    Do you or did you use the internet at all to pick up techniques on guitar?
    What influenced you to pick up the guitar and continue to play?
    Has A.F.I. ever been pressured by your record labels and made music conforming to them?
    How did you first learn guitar?
    How did you purchase all of your guitar equipment when you were young?
    What was your first guitar?Brand,Model,etc.?

    - according to him, what defines a good AFI melody, or tune?

    - how does he approach songwriting now as opposed to 10 years ago, and 10 years before that?

    - Are there things that he consciously avoids putting into songs (arpeggio's, pickslides, solos, too many barre chords)

    - What is 1 thing he would love to but knows for sure he definitely cant or wont put into an AFI song

    - Is there something aside from AFI or BA that he would love to venture into (Davey Zu, Hunter Macbeth etc)

    - what is your favorite afi song EVER.
    - the record deal woith interscope is up, what are your plans now?
    -are you a little excited to get some time off after the tour with green day?
    - Does interscope pressure you to make the album a little bit of the way they want it? ot do they stay out of your way?

    Are you ever going to play oldies like Let it be broke, Porphyria Cutanea Tarda, At a Glance ever again?

    Any chance of a 34 long setlist like Greenday did, with a mixture of old songs and new?

    Do you miss the stage diving atmosphere when you guys performed in smaller clubs.

    When will "Weight of Words" be released, if at all!!?

    What bands were influential to you when you were early in your career? Bands that made you want to play?
    What was difficult to you about playing guitar at first? What is difficult now?
    How did playing guitar go from a hobby or interest to actually playing in a band? What was this process or transition like?
    I know that you went to college, but obviously you didn't use that degree towards your career. As a college student myself, I know how difficult it is to decide what to do with your life. How did you know you were making the right decision by doing something that wasn't easily supported? Was your family supportive?

    -What's the deal with Interscope? Are you guys still on the label, or are you looking for another contract?

    -As an audiophile, I am often frustrated with the lack of super high-quality audio available of AFI and BA recordings. Have you ever considered making your recordings available in master-quality (e.g. 24 bit, 192 khz) lossless audio? In particular for Blaqk Audio, since there is no vinyl available, and it seems easier logistically.

    - what is the most difficult song to pull off live guitar-wise?

    - any chance of releasing all the BBH tracks as a double disk? (that would be awesome!)

    - when will be get a BA music video?

    - what is your favorite AFI song that you didn't write?

    - any chance of remixing tracks from artist not from the U.S? (you have done The Cure already)

    - any chance of coming to South Africa? i promise to even bake you some vegan goodies :)

    I think a lot of people want to know :)

    - Obviously AFI's sound changes with every record as the band evolves as musicians, and Crash Love was very different from previous releases. Do you know or have any idea of where you're heading next? Crash Love sounds like it should fill arenas, will the next album be even bigger sounding or do you think you will take it down a notch? Maybe something completely different?

    I'd also like to know how he realized that guitar was his thing, and that it was THAT he wanted to do in life.

    Why do you keep playing songs that some band members have admitted they don't like playing (Dancing Through Sunday, Kill Caustic), yet there are other similar songs you never play (Paper Airplanes, Killing Lights)?
